Reading Project and Randomness

So...one day while working on a hero project in reading, a group of boys needed to record a song onto their iMovie. This required the class to be silent so it could record uninterrupted. However, Austin decided to perform a lyrical dance for us, causing the class to die laughing. Here's his performance:

Minute to Win It

For the past couple of weeks the students have been participating in Minute to Win It Games in ROCK. Some of these were very interesting and funny to witness. Here are a few photos:
Get the cookie from your forehead to your mouth without using your hands.

Keep a feather in the air for one minute. You can only blow on it.

Assemble a puzzle in one minute.
Get six noodles onto a spaghetti noodle in your mouth without using your hands.

Stack 3 golf balls, one atop the other.

Halloween

Halloween is always a fun time around the middle school. I have to say, there have been several interesting costumes! Even though the dance is tonight and I know more costumes will come out, here are a few that were worn during the day:

Demonstration Speeches

This past week the students have been presenting their demonstration speeches. Let's just say that we have been fed well! They have done a great job with these. It's awesome to see how much fun they are having with it and their speaking abilities are getting better. Here are a few pictures from the week:

Regan showed us how to make an origami pinwheel.

Maggie showed us how to decorate cookies. Gabby is showing off her final product.

Chance drove his tractor to school and showed us how to bail hay.

Abby showed us how to make a tie blanket.

Mickelle showed us how to use apples, peanut butter, and marshmallows to make a face with teeth.

Cookie Worms

For the next few weeks we will be working on demonstration speeches. To model one, I did a demonstration speech on how to make a cookie worm. The kids had a great time and a delicious treat. Hopefully they learned something in the process!

It may have gotten a little messy!

Pink Out

Tonight at the home football game the players are wearing pink tape in support of the Coaches Vs. Cancer campaign. The community was asked to wear pink as well and I feel that the 8th graders did a great job!
